Workshops for secondary students
Schools and community youth organisations can host free Be Ahead of the Game workshops for students in years 7 to 12. The interactive, one-hour sessions are facilitated by highly experienced Gambler's Help community engagement staff, and can be delivered in your classroom or online. The workshops help secondary school students develop the skills to think critically and make informed decisions about gambling.
Book one or more of these student workshops:
Helps students think critically about the risks of gambling and the factors that influence their attitudes towards gambling. Workshops are customised for Years 7-9 and 10-12.
Explores the increasingly blurred boundary between gaming and gambling, helping students stay safe and healthy. Workshops are customised for Years 7-9 and 10-12.
Helps students develop financial literacy and awareness of the financial risks of gambling. Workshops are customised for Years 9-10 and 11-12.
Information sessions for parents and carers
Schools and community organisations can host a free Be Ahead of the Game information session for parents and carers of secondary school-aged students. These free, 1-hour, online sessions help equip parents and carers of school students to:
- talk with them about the risks of gambling and gaming
- keep them safe and healthy
- get professional advice and support.
Book one or more free information sessions for parents and carers:
Helps parents/carers understand the risks of gambling among young people and the role they can play in influencing young people's attitudes and access to gambling. It gives participants the tools, knowledge and confidence to talk to young people about gambling.
Explores the increasingly blurred boundary between gaming and gambling, and helps parents/carers confidently talk to young people about the reality and risks of gaming and gambling.
Professional development for teachers and educators
Teachers and educators can book a free online or face-to-face professional development session (one hour).
Support your students to think critically about gambling with this free, one-hour professional development session. This session gives secondary school teachers:
- an understanding of the youth-related issues associated with gambling
- strategies for developing a whole-of-school approach to tackling the issue
- support options available to students, parents and teachers.
